China's largest single-site onshore wind power project officially put into operation

2025-09-18

On September 14, the Inner Mongolia Energy Urad Middle Banner 1.5 million kilowatt wind storage base project, the first single largest onshore wind power project in my country to use 10 MW generator sets on a large scale, was officially put into commercial operation.

The project is located in Ganqimaodu Town, Urad Middle Banner, Bayannur City, Inner Mongolia. It uses a total of 150 10-megawatt wind turbines, making it the largest onshore wind power "giant array" in the country.

These ultra-large wind turbines utilize all-carbon fiber blades with a larger root diameter of 3.6 meters, increasing blade root load-bearing capacity by over 26%. During operation, the blade tip is further away from the tower by over 12%, significantly enhancing blade safety. Furthermore, the project's turbines utilize 1.7-meter main bearings, offering significant advantages in width and thickness. This increases load-bearing capacity by over 20%, significantly improving overall turbine safety.

After the project is put into operation at full capacity, it is expected to generate 5.44 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, reduce the burning of standard coal by approximately 1.64 million tons annually, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 4.98 million tons.
